WEEKEND RECAP!!! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Saturday was a very emotional day for all who knew and loved Michael Gallagher…. At lunch the most epic tribute to Michael’s life and love of motorsports was displayed with the “Last Lap” for this fierce competitor. Having his #45 stock car back out on track with the Super Touring drivers who knew and loved his competitive spirit was truly heartbreaking and brought back so many memories. The helicopter you see in the pics was one Michael flew in the past and the escort on the parade laps by police on motorcycles was his other life as well. Such a tough day to say goodbye to him in a place he loved so much. Michael you may be gone but you’ll never be forgotten. 💔🙏🏻
The Thunder Race was later that afternoon so we all had some time to get our heads back in the game.
The weather was great and my car ran stronger than it ever has….it was so incredible yet felt like a totally different car! Again thank you to MTI Racing for taking on my car and tackling it’s prior issues that have plagued me for about a year now.
Unfortunately during the first race and throughout the weekend, I had intermittent power steering issues (new problem - looks like i’m going to need a PS cooler) and that was a bit dicey trying to race into the corners with that problem as you can imagine. Despite this, I was able to podium 2nd in class behind Bill Goforth in Super Unlimited. Congrats and great drive Bill!!
Both of Sunday’s races were plagued again with intermittent power steering issues and unfortunately I had reduced engine power once again during that third race. Looks to be throttle/pedal position sensor codes and MTI is back on the car getting these issues solved as the first SCCA Appalachian HillClimb Series Presented by Summit Racing hillclimb is quickly approaching next weekend in Pineville, KY.
So looking forward to going back to Pine Mountain and WE WILL BE READY!!! 🧡🏁
