Roebling Recap!!! (Sorry for my delay!)

Last weekend we had some wet weather on friday for the load in but the car didn’t melt with a few rain drops from the transfer from the trailer into a garage space! Did find as Randy Adkins installed metal sleeves onto the spark plug wires that I had FOUR burnt wires from CMP last November (my last race).
Ok well those were replaced but I found that the metal sleeves didn’t cover the part of the wire that touches the header from time to time and I now have a plan D to solve that issue. #sparkplugwireswillnotbethedeathofme💀

Weather was cool on saturday and sunday but was dry and really was perfect race conditions. During qualifying, the car had a check engine light and “reduced engine power” on the DIC. Couldn’t set a qualifying lap time which started me in the back for Saturday’s race but things could always be worse. After some advice from Chris Cloutier with Big Dog Racing, we found the air filter inside the fabricated air box was disconnected from the cold air intake and the other end of that piece was loose on the throttle body. These band clamps were tightened - these must have loosened with vibration from the car. This fixed the engine codes.

During the first race on Sunday we had a competitor’s engine catch on fire on the first green flag lap and oil was all over the track and my windshield as I was fairly close to this action in turn 4. Luckily was able to avoid him as his car was spinning and I didn’t lose it completely in the oil. After the red flag caution was over we were able to make a few more laps after the clean up to finish the race. Thank goodness no one was hurt during that incident and the fire was extinguished quickly.

Sunday’s early afternoon race gave me a great opportunity to find more time and the car finally ran well. It ran so well I used more fuel than planned and had to come in one lap shy of the white flag. 😢
Overall it was a great shakedown for the first race weekend of 2024 and it felt great just being back in the car!! Thank you for your help Randy and your skills at getting OPR off those old #hoosierracetires!

I will be posting up my 2024 race schedule soon and some exciting news coming up in less than 2 weeks!! 🏁🏁🏁
